Our mission is to raise awareness and address homelessness and the stigma surrounding it within the Peel and Halton region. We aim to educate and engage the community through hands-on volunteer experiences, events, and advocacy efforts that drive collaborative change and promote systemic improvements. Guided by compassion and collaboration, we strive to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to find stability and a place to call home.
Behind every statistic is a person — a neighbour, a family, a story. Here's why the work we do matters.
At Hearts&Homes, we are always looking for volunteers. If you are able to volunteer in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), please fill out the form below.

Our Winter Care Package initiative brought the community together to support those in need during the colder months. With the generous help of Colley Boarding House at Appleby College, we assembled care packages filled with essential items such as gloves, hats, and food. Each package was created with warmth and compassion in mind, providing comfort and support to individuals facing harsh winter conditions.
Hearts&Homes hosted a raffle fundraiser, offering participants the chance to win two Toronto Raptors tickets generously donated in support of our Winter Care Packages initiative. The event helped bring the community together while raising funds and awareness for individuals experiencing homelessness.
We were excited to share that our Summer Care Packages were successfully assembled and prepared for distribution. Each package included a thoughtful mix of refreshing snacks and hydration items, along with essential hygiene products such as toothbrushes, soap, and toothpaste, helping individuals stay nourished, clean, and comfortable during the warmer months. These packages were designed to meet seasonal needs while promoting dignity, care, and a stronger sense of community. A huge thank you to everyone who supported this initiative, together we made a meaningful impact.
Hearts&Homes hosted a community Shoe Drive to collect new and gently used shoes for those in need. All donations were forwarded to Soles4Souls, helping give each pair a second life while supporting individuals and families facing hardship both locally and globally. The initiative also offered free pickup to make donating more accessible. Through this effort, extra shoes were transformed into opportunity, dignity, and hope, with every pair making a meaningful difference.
On July 4, 2025, Hearts & Homes delivered over 50 hot pizzas and drinks to the community lunch program at Kerr Street Mission, with each meal carrying a message of care and support. Every pizza box was paired with a handwritten letter of encouragement, many written months earlier by middle school students who wanted to share kindness with members of their community. This initiative brought together food, connection, and compassion, highlighting the impact of small acts when people come together to support one another.
In September of 2024, Hearts&Homes hosted a milk bag weaving event that brought together an incredible turnout of volunteers. Participants worked collaboratively to transform recycled milk bags into durable sleeping mats for individuals in need, combining sustainability with meaningful community impact. The initiative highlighted the power of collective action in addressing homelessness, and the support from everyone involved played an important role in making a positive difference in the community.
Middle School Community Action Day was an inspiring experience centered on teamwork and giving back. Volunteers came together to build a sturdy wooden frame and weave recycled milk bags into durable layers, creating mattresses for those in need. Every effort contributed to a shared goal of providing comfort and support, demonstrating how small actions can lead to meaningful change. This initiative highlighted the strength of community and the impact of working together to support individuals experiencing homelessness.
Hearts&Homes hosted a meaningful initiative where middle school students came together to write letters of encouragement for individuals experiencing homelessness in the local community. These letters were included in care packages, offering not just words, but messages of hope, connection, and reassurance that no one is alone. The event reflected the power of small acts of kindness and the impact of community in bringing compassion and support to those in need.
